P.S.

the flowers are gorgeous here!!! this post is dedicated to my father who loves gardening and planting.....

breckenridge!!!!

so we are back to our second home! after vacationing here fore 15 years of my life it sure feels like home! good ol' breck is still as awesome as ever and we even got the chance to visit chase and carolyn in denver on our way out here. maddox and jadon are as cute as ever and we wish we lived closer so we could see them more often. after leaving their house on monday afternoon we went to cherry creek mall (best mall ever!!!!) and went to fabulous stores.....restoration hardware, anthropologie, oakley..just to name a few. we also had cherry on top frozen yogurt because they will be opening in lincoln soon so we had to try it and it was amazing too! no fat and it tastes delicious!

after leaving the mall we decided to make our way back to I-70 without using directions and it was soooo fun. we drove through downtown and saw amazing condos and parks and lovely buildings...it just made me want to move there. successfully we got to I-70 and made our way to breck. as we drove out of the eisenhower tunnel we had a lovely light go on in our car....LOW FUEL! awwwww! i was paranoid but fortunately it is all downhill to silverthorne and we made it to a gas station and of course the outlet mall ;). we perused the stores and decided we would go back to make purchases a different day.

arriving in breckenridge was wonderful as usual. the crisp brisk mountain air that always smells amazing...literally. our condo is FANTASTICALLY AMAZING! we want it to be our apartment for reals...granite, stone, loveliness, mountains....what more could a girl and boy ask for? that night we stuffed ourselves at mi casa (mexican food) and sipped some good coffee. and yes we were in bed at 8 because we were soooooo tired! unfortunately we both woke up at 3 in the morning wide awake ahahahaha! serves us right for being old farts and going to bed ridiculously early.

tuesday we did the infamous mcculah gulch (butchered the spelling) hike and it was gorgeous! god is so beautiful! many photos were taken and will be posted soon. tired and refreshed at the same time we got home, rested, and then went to Eric's pizza which is the best pizza in the world. if you have never been here you should come for that reason.

now it is wednesday. our morning looked a little like this: woke up slowly, got coffee, read the paper, gazed at god's creation for a long time, went on a walk, and now we are going shopping. jay is more excited for shopping than i have ever seen him which is really exciting for me! so we are off! pictures to come and more updates.

YAY for celebrating GRADUATION AND HONEYMOONS!!!! WOOOHOOOO! but we wish family was here too :( miss all of you being with us. we wanted to play cards last night but it wouldn't have been much fun without you all!

Last week of nannying!

i cannot believe it is my last week of being a nanny! summer has absolutely flown by. this summer has been so fun compared to the last couple because i am not in summer school and jay and i have been much more active in visiting family and friends on the weekends. i have averaged sitting by the pool 3 days a week and have finished 3 books! that is REALLY good for me. in school i really didn't do much "fun" reading.

usually the kiddos i watch have golf and swimming in the mornings but this week they do not! with this being said i am in much need of some suggestions to occupy the children. they definitely are not the "stay at home and occupy yourself" types of kids so.........cheap fun things are needed. here is what i have thus far:

monday: Henry Doorly Zoo (weather permitting, fingers crossed!)
tuesday: park in the morning and pool in the afternoon
wednesday: driving range in the morning and pool in the afternoon
thursday: HAVE NO IDEA!

thursday is my last day so it is a must that it be fantastic and fun! i do not know what to do on this day and am in need of some other ideas. it is sad that summer is coming to an end and i will miss seeing these kids everyday! but i guess all good things come to an end at some point, however, this only means that a new good thing is about to begin! exciting!

new computer!

well we have a new computer! my brother and sister-in-law- were gracious enough to sell us their macbook that is in great condition! so now we have 4 computers....ahhh! time to sell 2. so if you are interested let us know. here are some new photobooth pictures of us taken with our lovely computer...it is my favorite application now.

Norman and I!
We really aren't hippies
Apparently loving the peace sign
that's us!

Update on Life

Well it is official Justin James Burt will be graduating on August 14, 2010 with his Bachelors in Economics. I am so proud of him along with all of his friends and family. It is pretty honorable to have worked full time, managing a business, getting married, getting a dog (practically a child), and going to school full time. He has accomplished much and is about to close a chapter of his life and embark on a new journey. All of his family will be here for his ceremony except his brother Ryan and his wife and kids. They will be missed a lot! Grandma from Albuquerque will be here too! After the ceremony it is off to party in Fremont with grilling and fun! What a fantastic way to end this story of his life.......food, laughter, family, and fun!

I only have 6 more days nannying this summer too! Wow it has gone by so fast but it has been so fun! They are always on the move and always saying the funniest things. Even though I have gotten my degree in elementary education I have chosen a different career path for the moment. I will be managing a Scooters coffeehouse....random.....sort of yes. I am so excited for it and know that God has led me exactly where he wants me! I just hope my cousin Bethany and Allen move here so she can work with me and we both can attend some more school for graphic design! Life is so great! I am such a dreamer and will always be one.

So there you go. That is the update from the Burt household! I haven't been doing so well on one of my summer goals.....taking more photos. I have on my phone but that is all! Lame!! Soooooooooo I will take some everyday from now on!!! Fingers Crossed! I have uploaded a picture of a camera for inspiration....hahaha

Home for the weekend!

miss Lily sitting pretty
Helping Garden!
Jaden was going down all by himself! Poopy diaper and all!
Maddox is everywhere!
Jaden likes to hide even when you can see him
Classic little Chase!

What a great weekend we had! The whole family was there...Chase, Carolyn, Maddox, Jaden, Matt, Abbie, Lily, Baby #2, Mom, Dad, Jay, Me, and of course Barb! What is with my family being able to laugh and have a good time with everything!

Saturday we enjoyed a game of apples to apples.....hilarious!!!! I think some of the words to describe me were: short and stout, long and lean, big and tall......hahaha. This is true! The one card to describe Jay was "wild and wooly". We all erupted in laughter over that card because Jay is kind of hairy! Perfecto! Then whenever Chase drew any card he decided to sing and repeat everything his card said just as if he were a broken record gone wrong. Annoying? Maybe to others but to us....hilarious! If you are bored all you have to do is go to the Meyer house!

My parents have a baby pool set up in their backyard and the nieces and nephews loved splashing in the water, especially little Lily! She is a water bug. Being only 1 year old, she loves to dunk her head and hold the hose up to her face! She is "fearless" as my mom says and is most definitely a fish! Then ther was Jaden who cried everytime his feet got put in!

As we were getting ready to leave the boys decided to inspect Chase and Carolyn's car because it turns out they have new friends who have moved in it! Mice! YUCK! It gives me the creeps. So after vacuuming up the mice poop they set up some mice traps in the car.....hahaha it is kind of funny. So we will have to keep you updated on the status of the new rodent family.

day at the zoo

so over the fourth of july we had jay's brother and his wife and kids come stay with us. it was fun and busy! jay experienced his first visit to the henry doorly zoo. he was amazed at how spectacular it was. i mean it is one of the best right? our niece and nephew loved it too! savannah is 3 and jameson is 1. they were great troopers and loved hanging out with uncle jay. because jay chose to be the "fun one", he had the opportunity to be savannah and jameson's source of entertainment througout the weekend....meaning being a human jungle gym. after they left on monday and jay woke up on tuesday he was sore if that says anything. i think it says he is older than he thinks he is and maybe he should lift some weights or something ;).....just kidding for reals. anyhow the weekend was fun with them. lots of really bad food was eaten and good wine was drank. the only bummer was lincoln post poned their firework show to the 5th and we were unable to shoot off any fireworks on the fourth. very depressing for me. i am used to a day in columbus, nebraska where all we do is sit around shooting off fireworks, eating homemade ice cream and drinking lemonade. fireworks or not it was a great weekend......henry doorly zoo need i say more? haha
